Actually, the self-proclaimed advocates here who insist on terms like

“MicroSloft, MicroSh*t, Windoze” mildly amuse me. (OTOH, I don’t recall

seeing terms like “LinSux” over in the advocacy groups for windows, os2

and the like).

And now we have a whole sites named linsux.. It’s true: What comes around goes around.

yesterday, i caught my first glimpse at windows 95.  it was horrid!  it

still uses crappy emm386 and himem, it STILL barely runs protected mode,

it takes 3 minutes to boot on a p90 with 32 megs of ram and it STILL

utilizes crappy cooperative multitasking.  i REALLY don’t think that

Win 95 has a chance up against Linux.

Indeed, didn’t you know that Linux was the dominating system from 1995 to 1998?

“worksforme” in 1995:

I am a professional.

Linux WORKS for me.

Linux can do everything anything else can do, except better

I am here to state facts, not an opinion.  So here we go:

Word processing:Linux has it, it is called ez.  Execute it by typing ez at the prompt.

Databasing:ez doubles as a database, if you should require it.

Video/graphical progs:xv is the main Linux graphical display(good

old Visual Schnauzer and its rotating fish).  Resolution is altered as

per X window system, and, with enough RAM(8-16 should do the trick),

swapping is minimal and the picture comes up almost right away.

…..

Games:/usr/games can hold any game you want.  You can put your

old DOS games in Dosemu, or you can find linux equivalents of these

games(for example:linuxxdoom or linuxsdoom) and put them in your linux

partition.

….

Yes, this beats Word, Photoshop and all the other noob programs!

A prediction from 1995:

Quote

Microsfot applications are the hottest target for software piracy

around the world, from which Bill Gates do not earn much

……

The Microsoft compiler

suit will no longer sell.  Give Linux 95 one more year, we will see

major applications appearing on Linux platform.

……..

When good applications appear on Linux, Microsoft stronghold on the

Office suit will be threatened. Bill Gates has only one more year to

enjoy his fortune. When this happens, I suggest Bill Gates move his

Office suit to Linux, just like what he did for MacOS

Yeah… MS has lost so much money since 1995… I think the best way to survive in this world is to listen to freetard predictions, and then do the exact opposite.. This way, you will never fail!

  1. “Linux can do everything anything else can do, except better”

    Don’t we have a TM for that? Let’s see… Ah-ha!

Something else that hasn’t changed: Linux advocates still outright lie about easily verifiable information. Today they go on about stuff like DLL Hell, Blaster Worm, and slow Vista file copy when all of it was fixed years ago. All that stuff about himem, emm386, and cooperative multitasking is only true in the case of supporting 16 bit apps–because they required it.

It’s been a long time, but I had a Pentium 90, except with 8 MB RAM, and I’m pretty sure Win95 didn’t take 3 minutes to boot. It was designed for high end 386 through 486 DX/2. Pretty much any Pentium made it scream.
